John is currently working as an entry level PC Technician for United States University and his role as a technician includes support and help securing all technology and data on network servers used by the University.
Just recently, John and even leadership of the University has been receiving anonymous complaints having to change passwords every month. At present, password requirements require a minimum of 8 characters with at least one number and one special character included. An example password in this case would be Flower1@
Putting yourself in the shoes of a PC Technician in this case, if password requirements were increased to 12 characters with two numbers and two special characters required, could these types of passwords be strong enough to increase the amount of time needed to change passwords. Why or why not? Also, in this case, assume that entities outside the University are always making attempts to breach network systems to gain access to University data.
