several disciplines and historical figures prominent in the forensic science arena.

After reading the chapters assigned, you have been introduced to several disciplines and historical figures prominent in
the forensic science arena. Of the historical figures in forensic science (found in chapter 1), select one from your text and
provide a rationale for why their discipline is important to the field of forensic science and support your answers with
information gleaned from basic searching on the Internet. For example, Sir Edmund Locard identified that cross-transfer of
evidence can be an important concept in criminal investigations. Locard’s Exchange Principle is still taught today. Which
of the Saint Leo Core Values do you believe is most applicable to your chosen forensic scientist’s discipline?
Consider why you are taking this class right now. Why is it that you want to increase your knowledge of forensics? Is it
because you are a fan of forensics shows and movies and find this area of study interesting? Do you plan on working
within criminal justice and want to be an educated consumer of forensic science? Did you need an elective and this
course fit your schedule? Or is it something else?
Most crime labs in the US are operated by the government and provide services to law enforcement and prosecutors. In
the UK, private labs charge fees for services and keep the profits. Can you identify any strengths and weaknesses in
these systems?
