Compare and contrast the benefits and problems of the Patriot Act respective to law enforcement practices, policies, and legal implications that were created or that still exist.

One of the prime examples of how a quick change to policy or practice can have a negative outcome is the Patriot Act, which many authors note was a change that seemed to have occurred almost overnight.
Just 45 days after the events of September 11, 2001, law enforcement’s role changed with the passage of the Patriot Act on October 26, 2001, which essentially afforded law enforcement officials broader powers and security agencies increased resources to fight terrorism both domestically and internationally. This act also affected and changed law enforcement policies in several different areas.
