One of the topics we have not yet discussed is the “rollout” of the training. 8.9 of your reading materials explains this process. It is always a best practice to treat the first attempt of the training as a pilot program.
The participants of this first training should include the employees most representative of the employees that will be trained. Depending on the type of training a pre-test/post-test could be used after the training to determine if the training accomplished what it was supposed to accomplish. Part of my evaluation involves determining if the training solved my initial problem statement/training objective] using metrics (complaints, accidents, sales etc.)
The next step is to evaluate the training delivery. I ask the participants, what worked and what should be improved. I listen to those comments with the mindset of improving the training. I do the same with the trainers. This information is crucial in improving the training. I use this information to make necessary changes.
Has anyone experienced the rollout of a new training? How was it received? Was it successful? How could it have been improved?
